My name is Ian Jackson. I have been interested in photography since I was a kid. After college I got a film SLR and started learning. Later I took workshops through Rocky Mountain School of Photography, and then attended their Summer Intensive program in Missoula, Montana. I went digital in 2010 and now shoot Nikon DSLRs.
Now I live in the White Mountains of Eastern Arizona, which do not much resemble popular ideas about Arizona. There are seasons here, and trees, with colorful aspens in the fall, snow in the winter, and amazing summer thunderstorms on a regular basis. The mountains rise to well over 11,000 feet and have many lakes and perennial streams.
I travel throughout the Western United States and Canada as much as I can and photograph landscapes and outdoor things. Most of my photos are of places you have never been and things you have never seen, even if you think you know the place. I like to photograph water in all its forms, probably because I have lived most of my life in the dry southwestern USA.
